Prayer in the Devotional Life (Part 1)
Recently, I shared my prayer list for myself. When I start my devotion time with a hymn and opening prayer, my prayer is for myself. When I close my devotion time, that is when I pray about the things I just learned and pray for others who are on my prayer list. Since having a prayer list for yourself might be new to you, I felt encouraged to share my list in this blog. So, here it is:

Psalm 79:9-10 KJV
“Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of thy name: and deliver us, and purge away our sins, for thy name’s sake. Wherefore should the heathen say, Where is their God? let him be known among the heathen in our sight by the revenging of the blood of thy servants which is shed.”
Psalm 115:1-3 KJV
“Not unto us, O Lord, not unto us, but unto thy name give glory, for thy mercy, and for thy truth’s sake. Wherefore should the heathen say, Where is now their God? But our God is in the heavens: he hath done whatsoever he hath pleased.”
Psalm 145:17-19 KJV
“The Lord is righteous in all his ways, and holy in all his works. The Lord is nigh unto all them that call upon him, to all that call upon him in truth. He will fulfil the desire of them that fear him: he also will hear their cry, and will save them.”
Now, that is quite a list. I don’t pray through the list exactly the same way every day. There are groupings that could be made so that the list is better organized. But one of the things I noticed is that it contains, though not it a proper order, the same elements as we can read in the Lord’s prayer.
Also, I would encourage you to actually read the texts associated with the items/values listed. Familiarize yourself with the language of the texts so that when you pray you can better identify with the Holy Spirit who inspired the thoughts of the Bible writer. Then, when you are asked to pray in public, you can apply the same technique so that Bible believing people can join in your prayers.
