God Has Promised — Barbara D. Thiele
The New Year has started, and already we see there will be challenges ahead. Actually, every day has it’s challenges! So that is all the more reason to do a quick review of what God has promised. It really is uplifting to rehearse the encouragement the Lord has given us through the writings of Ellen G. White. One little booklet titled, “God Has Promised,” is available at the PUC bookstore, or at the Adventist Book Center online. A short read, it’s exactly the kind of reading material to take with you while you wait to see the doctor. God has a solution to every trial and test.
From another of Ellen White’s books, Great Controversy, 621, we read: “God’s love for His children during the period of their severest trial is as strong and tender as in the days of their sunniest prosperity.”
Has anyone made it through a year of their lives without some problem, distraction, trial, or disaster? Here are other promises providing encouragement.
“The precious Saviour will send help just when we need it. The way to heaven is consecrated by His footprints. Every thorn that wounds our feet has wounded His. Every cross that we are called to bear, He has borne before us. The Lord permits conflicts, to prepare the soul for peace.” (Ellen White, Colporteur Ministry, 116.)
“Our heavenly Father has a thousand ways to provide for us, of which we know nothing. Those who accept the principle of making the service and honor of God supreme will find perplexities vanish, and a plain path before their feet.” (Ellen White, Desire of Ages, 330.)
“The Saviour is by the side of His tempted and tried ones. With Him there can be no such thing as failure, loss, impossibility, or defeat.” (Ellen White, Desire of Ages, 490.)
Praise the Lord! The future is nothing to fear. “Jesus will cling to the souls bought with His own blood with a firmer grasp than the sinner clings to Him.” (Ellen White, That I May Know Him, 80.)
This New Year, put your hand in the hand of Jesus, and He will hold on to you, comfort, support, and strengthen you!
Blessings to you, each one.
